Manufacturing Techniques
In mould manufacturing Hahlbrock applies different techniques. Skilled
and trained manufacturing employees assure a constantly high-quality
output, no matter whether you regard material selection, fulfilment, or
finishing on schedule.
Hand lay-up technique
A technique suitable first of all for prototyping and small series but
also for largesize and complex components. After a cover layer has been
laid out and cured the chopped strand mats or fabrics are laid up in
the open mould before they are impregnated with resin. Captured air has
to be rolled out of the layer prior to laying the subsequent layer.
Curing takes place in ambient temperature before the parts can be taken
out of the mould for finishing.
Spray-up technique
The Fibre spraying technique is a partly automated mode of hand lay-up
technique. The activated resin is sprayed together with cut glass fibre
rovings onto the mould and subsequently ventilated.
Compression moulding
The most commonly applied technique in the manufacturing of GRP
mouldings in mid- to large-size series. Pre-cut chopped strand mats are
laid in the mould and then impregnated with the activated resin. Under
the pressure of the closing male mould the resin distributes throughout
the mould cavity and impregnates the fibres.
Injection Processing
Different injection techniques allow high fibre concentrations with
correspondingly high stability properties. Further advantages of the
closed-loop technique are low-emission processing and minor
manufacturing variance. The fibre products are laid dry into the mould.
Under the influence of the pressure difference resin is injected into
the prepared reinforcing material.
