History
1970
Hahlbrock GmbH – in those days still sporting "Polyesterbau" in the company name – is founded in Wunstorf near Hannover by the current managing director Lothar Hahlbrock. The new company has a floor area of 300 m2 for production. The corporate objective: to produce GRP – at that time still not in widespread use – in new shapes and to open up new fields of application.
The advantages of high resistance to chemically aggressive media were quickly recognised and implemented for corrosion-resistant coatings and the building of covers and pipework. Hulls for various sailing dinghies are produced, and even complete boats.
1973
After three years Hahlbrock GmbH takes possession of new premises in Wunstorf-Grossenheidorn. The larger production area enables new markets to be tapped, e.g. the construction of retail facilities and ceiling panels in GRP.1988
This year marks the final move to the present company premises in Grossenheidorn. Although the company is now supplying and assembling products worldwide, it remains faithful to the region.
The larger production and storage buildings now encompass a floor area of 3500 m2. A number of product lines from the early years are abandoned in the light of a new orientation in the marketplace, others become established based on the products and methods of composites technology.
1995
The increased demand for temperature-controlled and refrigerated vehicles in the wake of new directives and laws regarding the transport of foodstuffs leads to the founding of a second company for the fitting-out of vehicles: Hahlbrock Fahrzeugausbau GmbH. The modular GRP kits developed by this company for temperature-control and refrigerated vehicles are designed in conjunction with the SETLINE refrigeration plant conceived specially for Hahlbrock.
Hahlbrock Fahrzeugausbau supplies systems for Volkswagen and kits for other well-known manufacturers of commercial vehicles.
1998
The CNC machining centre is opened where almost all moulds can be milled in-house and even large moulded parts made from composites can undergo 5-axis machining.
2004
Hahlbrock's many years of experience in the production of a very diverse range of products leads to the development of an innovative composite – HALUSITE®. The Hahlbrock subsidiary founded in this year develops and markets this material with unique properties for applications in architecture, exhibition stands and events.Owing to its structure and involvement in various markets, Hahlbrock GmbH is ideally placed to face new challenges in the composites branch.
