Cork sculptures — Franken Architekten
Cork is a homogeneous but at the same time grainy material which demands precise, careful machining.

The "Hamburg Architecture Summer 2003" included the exhibition "Franken>3in1<Architekten – ...out of this world?" in the "Blauraum Salon". Three projects from this architectural practice were merged into a hybrid, three-dimensional sculpture in cork. This "3-in-1 Wall" closed off the window openings and curved like a vault into the interior of the gallery. On the inside the surface resembled fine louvres.

The complex shapes and contours of these sculptures were realised precisely by machining the cork in our CNC milling machines, part of the Hahlbrock CAD/CAM environment.
