GRP sphere — NIVEA
The world’s first Nivea House was opened on 27 April 2006 on Hamburg’s waterfront, the Jungfernstieg. With a total floor area of 800 m2 on three floors, there are plenty of wellness facilities for customers to enjoy.
In the middle of the upper floor – which is dedicated to the theme of the sky – there is now a large blue research sphere. This object, similar to the well-known Nivea Ball and produced by Hahlbrock in GRP, houses skin and hair analysis facilities.

The sphere was made from eight identical GRP sandwich elements in orange peel-type segments. It has an outside diameter of 3.40 m, a pole height of 2.62 m and a surface area of approx. 27.3 m². An entrance door has been cut in one segment. The segments of the sphere were manufactured using CNC technology and the edges specially finished. This accurate manufacturing considerably eased the erection of the segments on site. The exposed surfaces have a smooth finish painted to match Nivea's corporate design.
