Bahlsen trade fair pavilion — Röhl

The production of spherical GRP segments (approx. 7.55 m in diameter) for the external walls of four trade fair pavilions.

These pavilions are used by Lorenz (formerly Bahlsen), a snack food manufacturer, for its product presentations.

Technical features

The GRP segments – all cut differently – were manufactured with very accurate edges and contours and joined together with precise tongue-and-groove connections, leaving the very minimum of gaps. For fixing to the loadbearing framework, very tight tolerances had to be adhered to for the position and alignment of the mounting pins on the frame side.

In order to function as an initial eye-catcher for a trade fair presentation, the surfaces had to be produced with identical curvature and smooth surfaces. CNC tools were used for producing and customising the moulds and moulded parts. The GRP segments meet the class B1 fire resistance requirements (DIN 4102).
