Flow test facility, UBA, Berlin
Manufacture of channels and tanks in GRP for the flow test facility of the Institute for Water, Soil and Air Hygiene. This Berlin-based institute is part of Germany's Federal Environment Agency (UBA). The test facility is designed to investigate the influence of pollutants on aquatic lifeforms.

Technical features
A total of 16 channel systems with a total flow length of 1632 m, including modular interconnectable channel pieces, tanks, bends, mixing tanks and special parts, were fabricated from GRP. All the surfaces in contact with the water were finished with a very low migration and abrasion-resistant gelcoat – the suitability of which was tested in abrasion tests performed by MPA Hannover, a materials testing laboratory. The design of the channel connections permits individual components to be replaced without having to dismantle a complete channel system.
The channel seals are designed so that there is no significant migration of substances from the seals into the water and deformations due to the temperature and vibration loads on the channel system do not cause any leaks.
